Community Connections For Youth & Families, Inc.
Community Connections for Youth & Families, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Mountain Home, AR, dedicated to strengthening the lives of children and families across Baxter County and the surrounding 14th Judicial District. We operate the community-based programs that serve youth referred through Baxter County Juvenile Services, as well as families who simply need support before a small struggle becomes a bigger one.
Every class we teach, every after-school session, and every volunteer placement is built around a single conviction: when youth and families are educated and empowered, entire communities grow stronger.
Our Mission
Community Connections for Youth & Families, Inc. is a local nonprofit entity providing community-based services for juvenile justice programs in order to meet the needs of youth and families by educating and empowering them to be caring and competent individuals who give back to our communities.
A 23-Year Investment in Baxter County
Community Connections for Youth & Families, Inc. was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on July 1, 2011, but the work behind it is far older. The programs we operate today were originally launched and managed under Baxter County Government and the Arkansas 14th Judicial District — a 23-year investment in our community by the time the nonprofit was formed.
By consolidating these juvenile-justice and family-oriented programs under a single nonprofit umbrella, we gained the flexibility to pursue grants, accept tax-deductible donations, and partner with private funders — all while continuing to serve the courts, schools, and families that have relied on these programs for decades.
Programs We Operate
Family Resource Center
Our Family Resource Center is the heart of what we do. We offer parenting education and life-skills classes designed to strengthen families before a crisis — and to support them through one if it arrives. Current classes include:
- Active Parenting 5–11 — Practical strategies for parents of elementary-age children.
- Family Dynamics (Active Parenting 12–17) — Communication, boundaries, and connection with teens.
- Coping with Character — Building resilience, empathy, and decision-making skills in youth.
- Adult Anger Management — Court-approved and open-enrollment classes for adults.
- Teen Substance Abuse Awareness — Prevention-focused education for at-risk youth.
Educational Enrichment Program
An after-school program that provides academic assistance, structured study time, and mentoring for students struggling to keep up — particularly those at risk of school suspension or further juvenile justice involvement.
Community Partnership Program
A bridge between local nonprofits, businesses, and youth. We coordinate volunteer placements and court-ordered community service hours so that young people give back to Baxter County while building work ethic, references, and a sense of purpose.
Board of Directors
Community Connections for Youth & Families is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from across Baxter County:
